I ran out of blogging and video-making steam this spring and just stopped doing everything. But I’ve actually been sewing up a storm all fall… I have some catching up to do! I’m going to make a Gallery here and start stocking it with pictures from the fall’s projects, instead of trying to do a blog post for each project. At the pace I’m going, there’s simply no time for that!
This summer I discovered “Discovery Fabrics” in Campbell River and started ordering activewear fabric from them, particularly Polartec wools and fleeces. I’ve also begun downloading digital patterns and doing the whole print-and-tape thing, which drives me bananas but it’s nice to branch out from the Big 4 pattern companies. So far I’ve been doing a lot of Jalie Patterns and Greenstyle Creations patterns.
Self-drafted unisuit – front view. This is the second version, with fabric from Dressew.
Self-drafted unisuit – pocket view! This is the second version, with fabric from Dressew.
Self-drafted unisuit – back view. This is the second version, with fabric from Dressew. You can see the water bottle pocket on the back.
Sept 23 – Raglan Top (it’s a McCalls pattern) using contrasting color blocking to end up with two tops out of 2m of fabric!
And this is the back of those Raglan Tops
I decided to try to modify the Raglan top and turn it into a rowing jacket. However, the neckline isn’t fitting right. I have intentions to fix the pattern and make it again though.
I do like how the stripes look across the back of this, but I do need to change the pattern to fit better.
November 28 – made these Classic pyjamas from Jalie Patterns out of cotton flannel, with cute piping.
Greenstyle Creations – Brassies Joggers. Super comfy and will make these a LOT!
Classic Pyjamas from Jalie Patterns in a blue print knit, unknown fibre content but it might be a rayon-poly blend.
Closeup of the piping and collar detail on the pyjamas
The Greenstyle Creations “Green Tee” made in the same blue paisley as my pyjamas. (I love this pattern and will be using it a LOT in the months to come).
Another Green Tee, this time in a fascinating print I got from a fabric swap.
I replaced the lining on this winter coat I made in 2018. I also moved the pockets about 3″ higher on the body. I really don’t enjoy working on finicky repairs and alterations like this.
I’m Susan Low (get it? S.Low?). Sewing has been my hobby since 1996. This is my blog for sharing projects. I talk a lot about my sewing process – successes and failures.
This is not a G-Rated blog. More like M or even R for language, and who knows what I might make?
